About This Project
A local business website had decent content but was barely visible in Google’s local search results. Despite having several pages indexed, the Google Search Console data revealed the real problem — the site was getting impressions for local keywords but receiving very few clicks. The average CTR was extremely low, keywords were stuck on page 2 and 3 of Google, and the site had no authoritative backlinks pointing to it — meaning Google had little reason to rank it higher.
I began by doing a deep audit of the GSC Performance Report — identifying high-impression but low-click keywords and pages that were ranking between positions 8 and 20, which just needed a small push to reach Page 1. I then executed a targeted off-page Local SEO strategy using guest posting on niche-relevant local blogs and directory websites, building quality dofollow backlinks. Alongside this, I optimised meta titles and descriptions for better CTR, fixed indexing issues, and improved the site’s local keyword targeting. Over the campaign period, the website saw a massive increase in both impressions and clicks, with multiple local keywords climbing to Page 1 of Google.
